Militants abduct Jenin governor
Militants in the West Bank town of Jenin have abducted the town's Palestinian governor, reports say.
Haider Irsheid is being held by local members of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigade - a militant offshoot of Yasser Arafat's Fatah organisation, it is reported.
The group accused the governor of being an Israeli collaborator who "has been involved in many crimes against our people", according to Associated Press.
Gunmen reportedly pulled the 50-year-old official from his van and beat him with hands and gun butts before bundling him into another vehicle and driving off toward the city's refugee camp.
The Al-Aqsa group has been blamed for several small-scale attacks on Israelis since the main Palestinian militant groups declared a ceasefire on 29 June.
Israel is demanding the Palestinians disarm militant groups as a condition of the US-backed "road map" peace plan.

Een waarschuwing aan Abbas, zijn leven is absoluut niet zeker en het zou me verbazen als hij 2003 levend zal beeindigen.
