Thailand Will Withdraw Troops from Iraq
Thailand was praised as a member of the 'coalition of the willing' when it agreed to send in 450 engineers and medics on a one year deployment to Iraq. However Thailand has now decided to start withdrawing military forces from Thursday.
It is believed that the worsening security situation in Iraq has played a role for Bangkok's decision to start withdrawing troops and military hardware.
An official from the Thai Defence Ministry said the decision does not affect it's one year commitment, but declined to comment on how many troops will remain behind.
