Suspected Mossad Agents Won’t Be Prosecuted As Spies
Two Israeli nationals at the center of a diplomatic incident between New Zealand and Israel have copped a plea in a case that tied the Israeli Secret Service group Mossad to organized crime activities in New Zealand.
Uri Kelman and Elisha Cara plead guilty to trying to illegally obtain NZ passports by using the birth certificate of a wheelchair bound cerebral palsy victim. Other charges against them for being part of an organized crime group have been dropped.
The New Zealand Herald reports that the two men, who were accused of being Mossad by prosecutors, copped to the guilty plea to avoid “diplomatically embarrassing” evidence that they are really Mossad agents involved in New Zealand criminal activity.
