Men : Match 5 / Costa Rica 0-0 Morocco
HERAKLIO, 12 August - Morrocco and Costa Rica played out a 0-0 draw in their Group D men's Football match at Heraklio's Pankritio Stadium tonight.

The result ensures both teams still entertain hopes of progressing further into the tournament.

While avoiding a loss in the opening game was the most important outcome for both teams, Costa Rico spurned an opportunity to make a more emphatic start after Morocco were reduced to 10 men for the last 30 minutes of the match. Moroccan captain Jamal ALIOUI was sent off in the 59th minute for a foul on the edge of the box.

In a match littered with free kicks, neither team was able to find the cutting edge up front to capitalise on enterprising midfield and wing play.

The best football of the night was provided through the wing play of Morocco's Farid TALHAOUI, one of two wide players (along with Mehdi TAOUIL) given licence to create in coach Mustapha MADIH's structure. What opportunities were created from their crosses, however, were squandered.

Midfielder Jose Luis LOPEZ was the most influential player for Costa Rica, but too many attacks initiated by him broke down approaching the goal.

Costa Rica faces a bouyant Iraq in its next match, while Morocco meets a Portugese side looking to make amends for a shock loss.
