[AEL persbericht] AEL Condemns American massacres in Najaf and salutes Al Mahdi army in its brave resistance

Since a couple of days the American occupation army is conducting a general attack on the city of Najaf in Iraq. Hundreds of civilians and defenders of the holly city have been killed by this attack. Ironically enough the occupation army has been threatening the population with death if they didn’t leave the city confirming its intension to commit a war crime.
The Arab European League is scandalized by the silence of Europe and the international community on this ongoing crime and humanitarian disaster. We also condemn the position of Arab regimes that is complying with the American de facto regime and recognizing its marionette government in Iraq. At the same time, the AEL salutes the resistance fighters of Al Mahdi Army and praises their sacrifices for the freedom and dignity of our Nation.
We also believe that soon the American occupiers will have to realize that they are dealing with a popular uprising and not with a marginal insurgency. Iraq will not be an easy prey for the expansionist and oil thirsty fundamentalist Bush-regime. Iraq is and will stay the graveyard of invaders.
