Israeli Forces Step-up Aggression in West Bank, Raze Lands in
Gaza Strip, Illegal Settlers Wound Civilian in Nablus

Israeli occupation forces (IPC) stepped up its military aggression in the West Bank and razed lands in Gaza Strip, as armed Israeli settlers wounded a civilian critically in Nablus.

Security sources said Israeli forces beefed up military presence in the city of Al Bireh, as soldiers sat up roadblocks and ambushed civilians on their way to work or school, arresting several and holding others near the military watchtower established next to Qalandia checkpoint.

Israeli soldiers, manning the checkpoint, also intensified their measures on the civilians from the early morning hours, as school children were forced to pass through metal detectors and have their school bags searched by the soldiers. These measures have caused the delay of hundreds of civilians from their working place or schools.

In Nablus, Israeli forces stormed the city and raided several houses, security sources and eyewitnesses said.

The witnesses told IPC correspondent that a large Israeli force of several military jeeps and armored vehicles stormed Nablus and raided several houses in its eastern and central parts. The raided houses were searched and vandalized in a cruel way, and the extent of damage or human casualties was not yet known.

Also in Nablus, local sources in the village of Beit Foreek said that armed Israeli settlers attacked and critically wounded a civilian while they were rampaging through the village.

Hospital officials in Nablus City said Mohammed Khatatba was brutally beaten up by a group of armed Israeli settlers in Beit Foreek, causing him to suffer multiple fractures and wounds. He is still being hospitalized due to the severity of his condition.

This follows a large invasion of the city of Jenin, where Israeli forces – for the second consecutive day – advanced through the city from different directions, amidst heavy shooting from tanks and armored vehicles.

The forces, which were accompanied by a bulldozer, were deployed in the old part of Jenin City, where explosions and heavy gunfire were heard continuously.

The city of Jenin was also invaded yesterday by large Israeli forces, as many houses were shelled and damaged, while military patrols combed the city and its refugee camp. More than 15 civilians were arrested by Israeli troops during yesterday's invasion.

In the Gaza Strip, Israeli bulldozers razed vast areas of arable lands in the town of Al Qarara, north of Khan Younis province, security sources said.

The sources added that a number of Israeli armored bulldozers guarded by military vehicles advanced from the illegal Israeli settlement 'Kisofim', north of Al Qarara, and started razing civilians' lands there. Almost 26 dunums of plantations and farmland were bulldozed.

Local sources mentioned that most of the razed lands were planted with olive trees, and that Israeli forces occupied the house of Hasan Al Sumeiri and turned it into a military post.
