7 Year Old Schoolboy Is Latest Iraqi Kidnap Victim
A 7 year old boy of Lebanese decent, whose father has been living in Iraq for the past 30 years, has been kidnapped as he made his way home from school in Diyala province, east of the capital Baghdad.
According to the Lebanese official news agency, the captors of Mohammed Hamad are demanding $150,000 for his release, having held him for the past two days. It is understood that the Lebanese charge d'affaires is trying to negotiating a deal.
There are three other Lebanese nationals who are currently being held hostage in Iraq. A construction worker, Hussein Ali Alyan, also from the Lebanon, was killed earlier in the year by his captors.
