'Ethnic violence' in China region
Martial law has been imposed in parts of the Chinese province of Henan after ethnic clashes in which witnesses say at least five people were killed.
The clashes were between members of China's majority Han community and the Muslim Hui ethnic group.
Residents are quoted as saying houses were set alight during the violence, and people fought using farm tools.
It is not yet clear what triggered the violence, the worst between Hui and Han people in several years.
China's official media has not reported the trouble.
But villagers contacted by the BBC said at least five people died in the violence. Hundreds of riot police have been drafted into the area and a news blackout imposed.
