JEDDAH, 21 March 2005 — The Saudi Binladen Group has won the contracts to implement two airport projects in Egypt and Yemen financed by the World Bank, Al-Eqtisadiah business daily reported yesterday.

The group, whose chairman is Bakr Binladen, will construct a new passenger lounge for the airport in the Egyptian resort of Sharm El-Sheikh. In addition to the 44,000-sq.m. lounge, the project includes an air traffic observation building and other related facilities.

Egypt’s Minister of International Cooperation Fayza Abul Naga said the World Bank has approved loans worth $335 million to finance the development projects for Cairo and Sharm El-Sheikh airports.

Egypt’s Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Nazif met with World Bank President James Wolfensohn in October last year and held talks about economic cooperation between the two sides.

Binladen has already completed the renovation of Aden International Airport in Yemen, Al-Eqtisadiah said, adding that World Bank financed the project.

The group has carried out nine other projects including the Kuala Lumpur Airport, Port Sudan Airport, Prince Salman Airport in Al-Dawadmi, expansion of Cairo airport and renovation of some airports in Syria.

Binladen Group has vast experience in airport infrastructure projects. In addition to Sharm El-Sheikh airport, it has also won the contract to implement the Sharjah International Airport project, the daily said.

"This shows how intertwined the Binladen organization is with legitimate businesses, underworld activity, and Western-dominated financial institutions, i.e. the World Bank, in addition to US intelligence connections to OBL. For years, the Saudi Binladen Group and Osama's clan clinged to their story that they "disowned" Osama and had no financial ties to him. Then last September, Osama's brother Yeslam Binladen "told the French judge that two of his brothers had created the account at Swiss bank UBS to collect and redistribute family funds - and Osama bin Laden was among the beneficiaries, the officials said." Yeslam's company SICO was involved with the BCCI, which the CIA used to launder the cash for OBL in Afghanistan. More on the BCCI-bin Mahfouz-bin Laden Intelligence Nexus

"The involvement of both a bin Laden family affiliate, the Saudi Investment Company (SICO), and of the bin Mahfouz family National Commercial Bank, with the Bank of New York - Inter Maritime Bank of Geneva, owned and managed by Bruce Rappaport. The Kerry-Brown Report gave details of the involvement in the 1980s of Rappaport, and of his bank's Vice President, Alfred Hartmann, with BCCI, with former CIA Director William Casey, and with the National Bank of Oman which forwarded Arab money to the Afghan mujahedin (Beaty and Gwynne, The Outlaw Bank, 311-12; Kerry-Brown Report, 318-20; cf. 69)."

These BCCI channels continued to operate after it was supposedly "shut down," by changing some of the names and front organizations. According to Congressional testimony - July 31, 2003, "In Afghanistan, Albania, Bosnia, and Chechnya, [there is] direct support for Islamic resistance by Saudi charities such as Khalid bin Mahfouz's and Yasin al Qadi's Muwafaq or Blessed Relief and Benevolence International." That was a convenient arrangement. During the Bosnian War, "these mujahedeen offensives were launched in conjunction with massive US and NATO bombings and strategic air strikes, known as Operation Deliberate Force, against strategic Bosnian Serb positions." Then a few years later in Albania, preparations were made for the Kosovo "jihad." Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) training camps in Albania were "run by Osama bin Laden, and various other foreign mujahedeen" and also by the "CIA and British intelligence." And "the CIA seems to have provided monetary support."

The Saudi Binladen Group's "chairman is Bakr Binladen"? How about that! Both the Saudi Binladin Group & Bakr Bin Laden are listed on the Golden Chain. So is Khalid Bin Mahfouz. This document was found in a file called "Osama's history." This is "a list of people referred to within Al Qaida as the 'Golden Chain,' wealthy donors to mujahideen efforts." By the US government's own admission, this came from none other than the Benevolence International Foundation Office in Bosnia! Under Attorney General Ashcroft's direction, the DOJ reached a plea deal with Arnaout, dropped the "terrorism" charges, and brought the investigation to an end.

This is going to get interesting when Paul Wolfowitz becomes head of the World Bank. Wolfowitz "described the relationship between terrorism and poverty as complicated, because some leading militants, including Osama bin Laden, were wealthy, while the people they recruited often lived in miserable conditions." That didn't seem to be a big problem for Wolfowitz, when Osama was recruiting cannon fodder for Bosnia & Kosovo. Wolfowitz was egging Bill Clinton on to escalate US aid to the Balkan "jihadists." Wolfowitz "personally advocated arming the Bosnian Muslims in their fight against the Serbs.... In 1999, as Clinton rounded up support for joint U.S.-NATO action in Kosovo, Wolfowitz hectored the president for failing to act quickly enough.""
