Saudis to retrieve $360 billion abroad
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Saudi Arabia said Sunday it was working to bring back to the kingdom a total of $360 billion invested abroad in the last 18 months.
Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal told reporters the government was working on returning these "national assets" back to the oil-rich Arab country and to attract foreign investments in Saudi Arabia.
He said the kingdom has "established qualified institutions for that purpose," but did not elaborate.
The minister added that the "smooth way" in which power was handed over to new King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz after King Fahd's death last week meant a continuation of stability.
"We hope these measures taken on the economic front will return the Saudi funds," Prince Saud said.

En aangezien de Saudis het meeste van hun geld hebben geinvesteerd in de VS, zal daar ook het meeste geld vandaan komen. Je vraagt je dan af wat Cheney heeft gezegd tijdens zijn recentelijke bezoekje aan Saudi Arabie, want dit kan wel geclassifeerd worden als een van de slecht-voor-handel staatsbezoek ooit.

Heel goed van SA. Als ze ook een beetje investeren in noord-Afrika, heb ik gelijk een baan als ik klaar ben met mijn studie.
Maar goed. Dit zal wel weer voor de nodige spanning zorgen.

Het zal tijd worden dat ze op zodanige wijze investeren dat het volk er ook van profiteert en ze ook een toekomst hebben als de olie op is.

Nu ja wellicht dat de dood van de oude koning ook betekent dat men nieuw beleid gaat voeren? Al die nadruk op investeringen in het buitenland zijn korte termijn denken waar het land niet beter van wordt en op de lange termijn kapot aan gaat.

Nu ja wellicht dat de dood van de oude koning ook betekent dat men nieuw beleid gaat voeren? Al die nadruk op investeringen in het buitenland zijn korte termijn denken waar het land niet beter van wordt en op de lange termijn kapot aan gaat. de oude koning was al lange tijd door zijn gebrekkige gezondheid niet meer de de facto machthebber
en aangezien deze nog 6 halfbroers heeft die ook een flinke hap van de koek willen (plus de duizenden "mindere goden"
nee als 10% ten goede komt aan de rest mogen ze blij zijn
