Norwegian boycott angers Zionists

Oslo, Dec 28 - The decision by a Norweigan region to boycott Zionist egime's goods has angered a leading Zionist organisation based in Paris.
The Zionist group, Simon Wiesenthal Wednesday attacked the decision as displaying "racism" and "anti-Semitism" "in the spirit of Hitler".
Earlier this month, the authorities in the Soer-Troendelag region in western Norway voted to boycott Israeli goods as a protest against the construction of the colonial separation barrier in the occupied Palestine.
"In the past (we) decided to boycott South Africa to protest against the Apartheid regime," Geir Jarle Siraas, a left wing local politician, told reporters.
"We want to mark our distancing of ourselves from Israeli policy today in the same way."
The move was backed by left wing parties, the populist right and centrists.
The measure was attacked by Shimon Samuels, a director at the Zionist-run Wiesenthal centre in Paris.
He has described the move as an embarrassment to Norwegian foreign policy as it places Oslo, venue to the well-known Oslo deal on the Palestinian problem.
Samuels demanded that Norway "go beyond its current 'denial of responsibility for the acts of a local council'.
There was no immediate comment from the Norwegian government though in the past the foreign ministry has emphasised the decision applies only to the Soer-Troendelag region and does not reflect official Norwegian policy.
The centre describes itself as an "international human rights organisation" dedicated to preserving the memory of the assumed Holocaust by fostering tolerance and understanding.
