Doha: An Indonesian maid whose body was found buried on Al Wakra beach in 2004, was forced to work as a prostitute in a garage in the Industrial Area, the court was told yesterday.

Her autopsy report suggested traces of sexual intercourse, the public prosecution told the Upper Criminal Court that is trying the sensational murder case.

On the night the maid was allegedly murdered, she was forced to offer herself to more than 18 people, as a result of which she developed serious health problems.

Enquiries made by The Peninsula reveal that the deceased was a runaway maid and staying in Najma where she came into contact with one of the four Asian suspects.

Desperate to get a job, one of them convinced her to secretly work as a prostitute in a garage in the Industrial Area. The other accused was a guard there.

One of the accused drove the deceased to the garage every night and brought her back to Najma after she had served her customers.

On the night that she was allegedly killed, she was being taken by the accused for medical care when a heated exchange took place between her and one of the accused over money.

The man was drunk and he took out a knife and stabbed her in the head after which she fell unconscious. The accused dumped her body in a dustbin in the Industrial Area but later fearing that it would be discovered the next morning, they took it to Al Wakra beach and buried it.

Extensive investigations led the police to discover the body of the maid with the help of sniffing dogs. The police made a headway in the case when they arrested one of the accused, a Nepalese, who confessed to having been under duress from his alleged accomplices not to disclose details of the alleged crime.

He said he was threatened by them that he would be deported if he opened his mouth.

Forensic tests confirmed that the hair samples of the deceased matched those found on a pillow in the garage. The accused have denied having committed the murder.
