Iran criticizes US for violating Palestinians' rights
Palestine-Iran, Politics, 7/1/2006

Iran's Deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs Seyed Abbas Araqchi today strongly criticized the US and deplored that as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, US fails to comply with its commitment and constantly violates Palestinian rights by misusing its right of veto.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister made the remark at the UNSC urgent meeting on the latest attacks committed by Israel in Gaza Strip, which was held in response to a call by Iran and a number of Arab states.

"No excuse can justify the acts of the Zionist forces, which blatantly violate basic international laws," he said.
Then he pointed to the fate of thousands of Palestinians, including women and children and asked, "How long have they been in Zionists prisons?"

"This is while only promotion of justice can put an end to the sufferings in the region and establish peace once more," he added.

Araqchi expressed concern over the possible extension of crisis to the whole region, given the violation of Syria's air space and said, "We strongly condemn the Zionists recent criminal act and consider it as a mass punishment and violation of international rights.

"We believe that the international community should mediate effectively and prevent such terrorist actions against the Palestinian people."

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi said here Friday that Zionist regime's recent aggressions on the Palestinian occupied lands stem from its international isolation.

Talking to reporters, Asefi said Iran will try to benefit from all the international organizations' potential to make the world public opinion aware of the core of Zionist regime's crimes.
Asefi said Zionist regime's recent atrocities are in line with its inhumane policies over the past years.

He said the UN's shortcoming and the US' support for the Zionist regime's crimes have emboldened the entity to commit the inhumane" crimes, which are contrary to all the international charters and conventions.

Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on Thursday strongly condemned Zionist regime's raids on Gaza and said the Quds occupying regime's suppressive policies are the root cause of terrorism.

"The world, including all the western sources, are now admitting that the Quds occupying regime's suppressive and aggressive policies as well as injustices and double-standards towards the oppressed Palestinian people are the root causes of terrorism and extremism in the Middle East," said Mottaki
