The humanitarian tragedy resulting from Israel’s Lebanon offensive, now on its 17th day, continues to grow. However, Turkish charity organizations are mobilized for Lebanon.

Official and non-governmental organizations are practically stepping over one another in order to give Lebanon a helping hand.

The Turkish Red Crescent sent two trailers of aid equipment to Lebanon. The Turkish-based NGOs Light House and the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) also transported their aid equipment to the country.

The General Command of the Turkish Naval Forces is transporting hemodialysis equipment for 40 Lebanese children suffering from kidney disease to Lebanon. Turkish trade unions, especially Hak-Is, are collecting financial aid.

Turkey’s “Isn’t There Anyone” Foundation also launched a campaign for Lebanon after launching a similar campaign for Palestine. The organization will collect aid and send food and shelter equipment to the region.

The Light House trailers transporting 60 tons of relief equipment arrived in Beirut yesterday after a six-day journey.

The relief packages include beans, rice and sugar and the organization officials stated three more trailers are on their way to Beirut.

The IHH transported six trailers of aid equipment to Lebanon via Tripoli on Thursday.

The IHH Press and Public Relations Spokesman Osman Atalay stated they would send eight more trailers that included food to the region on Monday.

The Turkish Red Crescent is also mobilized to provide aid for Lebanon.

Stating they launched a campaign for Lebanon after a similar effort in Palestine, Turkish Red Crescent Chairman Tekin Kucukali indicated an important point:

“The Lebanese government asked us to include tranquilizers in the relief list. Until now we have received no such demand like this. This is evidence that people there are in fairly serious psychological trouble. We put 200 parcels of tranquilizers on the trailers and sent them to Lebanon.”

Turkey did not forget the 40 Lebanese children who failed to be attached to dialysis machines due to Israel’s air and sea attacks.

A Turkish marine corvette was used to send hemodialysis equipment to Beirut for the children.

The Turkish Kidney Foundation authorities reportedly took action after they found out on Monday that the children would be in mortal danger.

Waar was die oorlog nou voor nodig?

Wat gaat er gebeuren straks? Er komt een staakt-het-vuren..een VN macht...en dan weer wederopbouw? Klinkt te simpel in mijn oren....
