Lebanese prisoners: Jail conditions have worsened

By Nir Hasson, Haaretz Correspondent

Lebanese prisoners held in Israel since the war claim that since they filed a petition asking for an improvement in the conditions of their incarceration, these have actually worsened considerably.

The three, Maher Hurani, Husein Sliman and Mohammed Srur, filed a petition at the Tel Aviv District Court, through their state-appointed attorneys, Smadar Ben-Natan and Itai Hermelin, two months ago. In their petition, they asked for Red Cross representatives to be allowed to visit them, and for amenities such as a television, clock and books in Arabic. In a notice filed with the court yesterday, the prisoners maintained that a day before deliberations on their petition, their radio was confiscated and they are also not allowed to receive newspapers.

The state prosecution insists that the three prisoners are common criminals, not prisoners of war, who have been charged for their involvement in the war
