Israeli company wins tender to secure Kabul airport

An Israeli company is installing sophisticated blast protection equipment at Kabul's new airport as the US Army seeks to protect the airport from missiles and car bomb attacks.
Under US patronage, TeraPro won a tender last year to equip the new airport in the Afghani capital with defense systems to lower the risk of terror attacks against civilians and coalition soldiers.
The company will also deliver blast resistant concrete walls that will make up the airport's contour.
TeraPro engineers turned down a US request that they travel to Afghanistan to supervise the installation of the equipment. The sides agreed that non-Israeli representatives of TeraPro would supervise the project.
TeraPro's products will be stripped of Hebraic inscriptions before being shipped to Afghanistan through Jordan.
"The engineering and planning teams of the new terminal were in direct contact with us through electronic means," a TeraPro official said. "We had to make sure that the walls meet the standards of the US Army."
In addition to the project in Afghanistan, TeraPro is still working with the US Army in Iraq and could embark on a new venture in Yemen.
