Israel must denuclearize, Erdogan says

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will demand that Israel sign the NPT at a nuclear summit in Washington.
The Turkish premier says the international community should take action to disarm Israel as part of the efforts to make the Middle East a nuclear weapons-free zone.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday before leaving for the nuclear security summit in Washington, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the international community has turned a blind eye to Israel's nuclear program.
Pointing out that Israel is believed to be the sole possessor of nuclear weapons in the Middle East and is not a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Erdogan said, "Until now, we haven't seen any request or intent from the international community with regards to Israel's (armament). We are going to ask the international community: why haven't you addressed this issue?"
The Turkish premier announced that he would raise the issue at the Washington summit and call on all 47 countries attending the forum to pressure Tel Aviv to relinquish its nuclear arsenal.
Erdogan said Iran's nuclear program has come under scrutiny as a result of its membership in the International Atomic Energy Agency whereas Israel, which has not signed the NPT, is "free to do what it wants."
Israel reportedly possesses 250 to 300 nuclear warheads.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided to cancel plans to attend the Washington summit after learning that Cairo and Ankara would demand that Tel Aviv sign the NPT at the meeting.

They want Iran to give up its nuclear development? Ok, so as the Arab League proposed, let's ask Israel to do the same, so that we have a Nuclear Weapon Free Zone in the Middle East.
It is obvious that the Arab and the Muslim world must develop nuclear weapons in the future. Otherwise, we will continue to be oppressed. It's now high time for the Arab world to awake out of sleep.
The US and Israel can't keep on killing innocent Muslim people all around the world with such impunity from the International Community, only for their indefinite economic interests.

Misschien komt dat doordat de achterliggende gedachte van dat de Joden daar eigenlijk helemaal geen staat horen te hebben, juist vanwege die terechte gedachte in bescherming genomen moeten worden door middel van allerlei privileges voor diezelfde staat tegen die gedachte. Snap je hem? :lachu: Misschien dat de holocaust deze gedachtengang nog eens extra versterkt.

israël is een nieuwkomer in de regio en het is helemaal van de zotte dat opeens de eeuwenoude omringende staten zich zonder enkel morren zich aan deze nieuwkomer zouden moeten aanpassen en andersom niet het geval is. Dat verder het hele zaakje rondom israël net zo hard stinkt als rotte vis staat buiten kijf.

Da's vrij logisch, israël zou op zijn minst moeten proberen om normale bilaterale betrekking met de omringende landen aan te knopen. Maar daarvoor zou erg veel water bij de wijn gedaan moeten worden dat israël niet zo lekker gaat vinden. Haar West-Bankbeleid spreekt bijvoorbeeld boekdelen. De oorlog is al heel lang voorbij en een nieuw tijdperk is aangebroken, maar toch blijft men hardnekkig. israël is kennelijk gebaat bij een gespannen situatie.

Welke staten zijn daar, in hun huidige vorm eeuwen oud? Iran/Perzie is volgens mij de uitzondering -- en zolang er in Perzie geen problemen waren hebben zij zich weinig van wat daarbuiten geschiedt aangetrokken.

Goed plan. Dat is wat jullie nodig hebben: Veel belangrijker dan onderwijs, vrouwenrechten, armoedebestrijding, democratisering etc ....
Zal er uiteindelijk wel op neer gaan komen dat de 'Ummah' die kernraketten op elkaars hoofd gaat gooien, vanwege 1 of ander boeiend meningsverschilletje over de juiste opvolger van de Profeet ofzo ....
