TORONTO - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that a future Palestinian state must be effectively demilitarized to prevent Iran setting up a proxy state in the West Bank.

“We must ensure that we achieve a peace that is anchored in security, the only peace that will endure is a peace we can defend,” Netanyahu said, speaking to some 7,000 members of Toronto’s Jewish community at a pro-Israel rally.

“A future Palestinian state must be effectively demilitarized.”

Netanyahu is on a visit to Canada ahead of a trip to Washington to discuss with US President Barack Obama fragile US-brokered indirect peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians.

Israel has pushed for the talks to focus on security.

Netanyahu said that after previous Israeli withdrawals from southern Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, the areas were taken over by Iranian-supported Hezbollah and Hamas.

“We cannot afford to have that mistake repeated a third time, we cannot afford a Iranian presence on the hills over Tel Aviv.” he said.

what a silly non_sense :

why mention Iran !!!!!!!!!: very suspicious : divide & rule technics :

Iran is just fulfilling its duty to help its palestinian brothers & sisters = the legetimate resistance against israeli occupation ...

mentioning Iran as a tactical card is just yet another israeli trick in the same fashion the US promised Arafat a state if he w'd support the US against ...Saddam = déja_vu :

israel is maybe planning an attack against Iran, tha's why it promises heaven to pâlestinians to make them not get involved when that w'd happen ....i guess, don't know :

Iran , Syria, Hizbollah, Hamas , Jihad ...had just let israel know some time ago that any attack against any of them will be met with a collective soild action :

that's why israel is trying to divide & rule those movements & nations : with no success of course ...

israeli lies, tactics ...fool no one :

since when israelis kept their promises :

the liberation of palestine must not depend on the words , "promises" of israelis ....

Exactly they don't have any intentions for a Palestinian state and how could they have those intentions in the wake of having occupied their whole territory build up from nothing. Their best way to make a political statement against a Palestinian state is saying that the Palestinians do not want peace, that's what they actually say by referring to Iran.

But we have to look sharper, if Jordan, Libanon and other surrounding countries which have been at war with Israel have their own state, then why not the Palestinians, even with an army. I think they themselves don't know what to do with the situation and that they just try to keep in control at their borders, they see all surrounding countries as their natural enemies, so the Palestinians that suffer daily at the hands of their occupiers must pay the toll for living under occupation and their weak resistance that costs them more than that it pays them, meaning the Palestinians. They just have to wear the brunt of being a second class world citizen.

If that is the case than Israel should come with clean hands and admit at least that they don't want a Palestinian state, but at the same time they also don't want the Palestinians be an majority within their territory. So the outcome is that the military strong oppresses the military weak, while ignoring universal laws of war and being extravagant in beating the Palestinians down. You can't expect from the Palestinians who have been ripped of from their land to also give up their sense of honor for being able to resist. So if we all agree that Israel is the strong, than it takes a little to understand that the strong should take the initiative in being at peace with the Palestinians even when they reject it morally - not militarily. The whole world should help curing the wounds that the Palestinians have suffered. And that curing begins with having an own state free from military oppression from the occupiers. May Allah bring their release soon and may He shower His bounties multiplied on them and may He lead them to that which is right and make them prosper on all fronts. Ameen.

Blabla, only nice speeches we have been hearing for decades to try to get a better image worldwide...

They are lying as usual, have no considerations for the Palestinians, and have even less intentions to give back the Palestinians 10% of what they stole them.

I wonder what Iran has to do with their latest attack on that convoy with multiple nationalities, including Turks who were given permission by the Turkish government to go help the Palestinians, even though they warned them. What a shame, that even governments know about the evil, yet they stand with their hands on the wall, as if we are dealing with some sort of spotless authority that is infallible. May the eyes of the political world be opened!

Israel ziet Hezbollah en Libanon als doembeeld.
Kan Hamas een dergelijke rol gaan spelen in een toekomstige Palestijnse staat?
