Rafsanjani described the coincidence of both the Iranian and Egyptian revolutions as a blissful event.
“The root cause of such a regional development should be sought in the deep awareness and increasing vigilance of the people. Also, independent media have had an effective role in creating such alert, especially among the youth,” he added.
“Relying on a variety of political games, the global arrogance and Zionists have been trying to deviate the Egyptians' independence and freedom-seeking movement,” Rafsanjani noted.

Iranian Parliament (Majlis) Speaker Ali Larijani has warned against US schemes over Egypt, saying the leaders of the United States seek to “hijack and cripple” the revolution of the Egyptian people.
“Despite the US plots, we are witnessing serious vigilance of the Egyptian youth and we are confident that they will turn this victory into further successes through their wisdom,” IRNA quoted Larijani as speaking to reporters on Sunday.
He noted that the “great incident of the expulsion of a dictator from Egypt” coincided with the 32nd anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
Larijani pointed out that a rally staged on Sunday by members of Iran's Majlis was a “symbolic move” to express support for the Egyptian people and their revolution that ended over three decades of former President Hosni Mubarak's dictatorship.
He added that the move indicated that the Iranian nation would stand by the oppressed people in line with ideals of the Islamic Revolution and would resist against dictators in the region.
The Iranian Majlis speaker deplored the policy change of certain regional countries on the Egyptian revolution, saying, “Some of these governments, that used to support Hosni Mubarak, are currently expressing support for the ongoing situation in Egypt on the orders of the US.”
He noted that the policy change of regional countries has been engineered by the United States and said, “The US intends to cripple the Egyptian revolution.”
Larijani criticized certain Western powers, particularly the US, for making efforts to divert the objectives of the Egyptian revolution and said their moves are aimed at maintaining the entity of Israel in the region.
Larijani urged all vigilant nations in the region to support the Egyptian revolution and prevent the US plots.

AMSTERDAM - Iran richt een nieuw kantoor op dat zich zal bezighouden met het vervolgen van mensen die overtredingen en misdrijven begaan op het gebied van media en cultuur.

Ook komt er een speciaal hof om deze mensen te berechten. Dat meldde staatspersbureau IRNA zondag.
De maatregelen wijzen op een hardere aanpak van journalisten en kunstenaars, van wie velen hun steun gaven aan de protesten tegen de herverkiezing van president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in 2009.

ben stiekem bang dat ze hun goede kans al ‘gemist’ hebben. het duurt maar weer ff totdat het actieve vulkaan, voorgoed, haar heilige ingewanden op het Vrijheidsplein (meydane Azadi) uit gaat kotsen.

's nachts, in het donker, schreeuwen de mensen leuzens; eigenlijk slogUns. dat boezemt het Iraanse regime schrik en angst in, en geeft tegelijkertijd de groenen nieuwe kracht; werkt aan hun onderlinge solidariteit. Een aparte ervaring is dat.

TEHERAN - Activisten van de Groene Beweging in Iran zijn van plan maandag de straat op te gaan, ondanks een verbod van het bewind van president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad gecombineerd met uiterst strenge veiligheidsmaatregelen.

Dat heeft een lid van protestbeweging laten weten, berichtte dagblad The Guardian zondagavond.
Oppositieleiders Mir Houssein Mousavi en Mehdi Karroubi hadden toestemming gevraagd voor een demonstratie waarin ze hun steun wilden uitspreken voor de Egyptenaren en Tunesiërs, die hun dictators hebben weggestuurd.
Een woordvoerder van de oud-presidentskandidaten beschuldigde het regime van hypocrisie, omdat ze de volksprotesten in Egypte en Tunesië steunde maar die in eigen land de kop indrukt.
Islamitisch ontwaken
Ahmadinejad noemde het verzet tegen de Egyptische president Hosni Mubarak eerder ''een islamitisch ontwaken'', dat volgens hem vergelijkbaar is met het Iran van 1979. Toen keerde ayatollah Ruhollah Mousavi Khomeini (1902-1989) uit ballingschap terug en maakte hij een einde aan het bewind van de sjah, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi (1919-1980).
In verband met de demonstratie hebben de autoriteiten tientallen activisten en journalisten opgepakt. Karroubi is donderdag onder huisarrest geplaatst. Bloggers klagen over censuur en het feit dat de toegang tot honderden nieuwssites is geblokkeerd.

''Ze zijn bang voor hun eigen volk'', legde de woordvoerder van de oppositieleiders uit. ''De hernieuwde oproep tot straatprotesten in Iran is een duidelijk teken dat de Groene Beweging nog leeft, dat is waarvoor ze bang zijn.''
De Amerikaanse regering heeft een Twitteraccount geopend in de Iraanse taal Farsi (Perzisch) om met de gebruikers van sociale media in Iran te kunnen communiceren. Het ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken uitte in meerdere Tweets kritiek op de Iraanse regering op de gang van zaken.
