Press Service of the Harakat al-Shabab al-Mujahedeen (HSM) announced the end of Operation Westgate in Nairobi:
"After 4 days of exposing the vulnerability of their nation, the Kenyan government ended the siege in a morally reprehensible manner.
HSM confirms that the Kenyan government employed chemical agents to end the siege at Westgate Mall, killing all the hostages in the process. Having failed to defeat the Mujahideen inside the Mall, the Kenyan government disseminated chemical gases to end the siege at Westgate Mall.
In an act of sheer cowardice, beleaguered Kenyan forces deliberately fired projectiles containing chemical agents into building. To cover their crime, the Kenyan government carried out a demolition to the building, burying evidence and all hostages under the rubble.
U. Kenyatta and his government are to be held culpable for Westgate and for the lives of the 137 hostages who were being held by the Mujahideen, said in the statement of Al-Shabaab.
