Contextual effect of positive intergroup contact on outgroup prejudice
Significance
Although mixed social environments can provoke conflict, where this diversity promotes positive intergroup contact, prejudice is reduced. Seven multilevel studies demonstrate that the benefits of intergroup contact are broader than previously thought. Contact not only changes attitudes for individuals experiencing direct positive intergroup contact, their attitudes are also influenced by the behavior (and norms) of fellow ingroup members in their social context. Even individuals experiencing no direct, face-to-face intergroup contact can benefit from living in mixed settings where fellow ingroup members do engage in such contact. Two longitudinal studies rule out selection bias as an explanation for these findings on the contextual level. Prejudice is a function not only of whom you interact with, but also of where you live.
Abstract
We assessed evidence for a contextual effect of positive intergroup contact, whereby the effect of intergroup contact between social contexts (the between-level effect) on outgroup prejudice is greater than the effect of individual-level contact within contexts (the within-level effect). Across seven large-scale surveys (five cross-sectional and two longitudinal), using multilevel analyses, we found a reliable contextual effect. This effect was found in multiple countries, operationalizing context at multiple levels (regions, districts, and neighborhoods), and with and without controlling for a range of demographic and context variables. In four studies (three cross-sectional and one longitudinal) we showed that the association between context-level contact and prejudice was largely mediated by more tolerant norms. In social contexts where positive contact with outgroups was more commonplace, norms supported such positive interactions between members of different groups. Thus, positive contact reduces prejudice on a macrolevel, whereby people are influenced by the behavior of others in their social context, not merely on a microscale, via individuals’ direct experience of positive contact with outgroup members. These findings reinforce the view that contact has a significant role to play in prejudice reduction, and has great policy potential as a means to improve intergroup relations, because it can simultaneously impact large numbers of people.

Met andere woorden, de meeste PVV stemmers zien te zelden een allochtoon.
In de gebieden waar allochtonen het minst voorkomen stemmen toch nog relatief veel mensen PVV. Die trappen waarschijnlijk in de andere goedkope praat als direct uit EU stappen, ,meer geld voor zorg, etc.
Ik vraag me overigens ook af of je gedacht hebt aan de groep allochtonen die voor alles wat niet in hun groepje past hun neus ophalen? Soms zelfs ronduit vijandig jegens autochtonen. Die mixen niet lekker, niet in de normale omgang, keuze huwelijkspartner, etc.

Ik dacht dat dat beperkt was tot Zuid-Limburg. Maar het kan best. Maar Oost-Groningen? Zuidoost-Drente? Lelystad? Oost-Zeeuws-Vlaanderen? :hihi:

Dat zie ik nou weer helemaal niet in dat plaatje. Mijn ervaring is dat Friesland één van de witste gebieden is waar ik dan wel eens kom. Leeuwarden is op een paar kleine buurtjes nagenoeg blank. En van Walcheren is Vlissingen verreweg het gekleurdst. Twee gebieden die mij dan opvallen vanwege lokale bekendheid.

Ja, ik denk dat het veel subtieler is dan dit laatje weergeeft. Mijn eigen stadje staat er ook vrij donker gekleurd op. En staat zo ook bekend in de media. Ik denk dat gettho vorming heel negatief doorwerkt. En dat heb je een beetje in Gouda en Rotterdam. Vlissingen weet ik niet. Je zou ook de vluchtelingencentra in die kaart moeten weergeven. Die hebben ook eenzelfde soort effect: erg negatief.

Dat de meeste PVV stemmers zelden een allochtoon zien heeft natuurlijk niet direct tot gevolg dat iedereen die zelden een allochtoon ziet op de PVV stemt.
Als je de titel van het stukje leest ga je begrijpen waarom de PVV zo populair is.... denk dat meer dan de helft van de bevolking geen boodschap heeft aan dergelijk taalgebruik. Dan wordt het SP of PVV :regie:

Soldim, ik vroeg me eigenlijk hardop af of bovenstaande geillustreerd was door de kaart van Nederland mbt PVVstemmers. Nee dus.
Ik zie 'die illustratie' niet terug in de lichtblauwe vlakken (gebieden met een laag aantal PVVstemmer )..die geven te weinig info.
Het ging om de reduktie van vooroordelen !

Bewoond door de nazaten van naamloze van her en der aangesleepte hongerlijders; niet door boeren.
Vergelijkbaar met de vervallen mijngebieden in Noordfrankrijk of Wallonië; geen 'platteland' in gangbare zin van het woord.

De echte boeren stemmen waarschijnlijk religieus. CDA heeft daar een traditie. Volgens mij zijn de nazaten van de turfstekers grotendeels van het platteland vertrokken.
Het kaartje is onverklaarbaar en lijkt ook niet helemaal te kloppen.
