Iraq crisis: Yazidis' mix of beliefs misunderstood, maligned

The Yazidis are a small, misunderstood and long-persecuted religious sect rooted in the town of Sinjar, in northern Iraq, and also in parts of Syria and Turkey.

No one knows the exact size of the Yazidi population. Estimates range from tens of thousands to 500,000 or more. Over centuries, they have been the target of violence and purges, including during the Ottoman empire, and have survived as a close-knit community that does not proselytize.

Much confusion surrounds their beliefs, but scholars say Yazidi teachings are a mix of several traditions, borrowing from Christianity and Islam, and including some practices resembling ancient traditions in Persia.

The Yazidi believe that a supreme being created the world but does not rule it. Instead, his will is carried out by seven angels, chief among them the Peacock Angel, known as Malak Taus. Yazidis believe continual rebirth leads to purification, and therefore the sect does not believe in hell. The tomb of Sheikh Adi, in the town of Lalesh north of Mosul, Iraq, is a Yazidi shrine and pilgrimage site.

Yazidis pray to Malak Taus, who is also known as the Fallen Angel. But unlike fallen angels in some Christian traditions, who are banished from heaven, the Peacock Angel was redeemed.

Still, the Peacock Angel is also known to Yazidis as "shaytan," which is the Arabic word Muslims use for the devil. This is the source of the belief among many Iraqi Muslims that Yazidis worship the devil, and it is among the reasons Yazidis are being targeted by the militant Islamic State group.

Obama wil yezidi's in veiligheid brengen

WASHINGTON -

Freemasons in the French Revolution
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While it is both simplistic and specious to lay the responsibility for the French Revolution at the door of Freemasonry, there is no question that freemasons, as individuals, were active in building, and rebuilding, a new society. Considering the large number of bodies claiming masonic authority,1. . many men identified today as freemasons were probably unaware of each other’s masonic association and clearly cannot be seen as acting in concert. Yet they did share certain beliefs and ideals.

In 1789 the established power in France was a kingdom of God’s grace — however Louis XVI was a weak sovereign. The columns of established power had been the nobility, many of whose members now embraced the philosophers and rationalists, such as Voltaire; the clergy, whose lower hierarchy understood the misery inflicted on the lower classes; the army, whose members were drawn from and often sympathetic to the lower classes; and the public service, whose members were drawn from an educated bourgeoisie who saw themselves locked out from much political and social advancement.

A brief chronology of the
French Revolution
February 1787 : Assembly of "notables" called by Charles-Alexandre de Calonne
May 5, 1789 : Estates-General met at Versaille
July 14, 1789 : Parisian mob seized the Bastille.
Aug 4, 1789 : National Assembly abolished feudal regime and tithe
Aug 26, 1789 : Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen
Oct 5, 1789 : Paris mob marched on Versaille, brought King to Paris.
June 20, 1791 : Louis XVI tried to flee country.
April 20, 1791 : France declared war on Prussia and Austria.
Aug 10, 1792 : revolutionaries occupied Tuileries, imprisoned the royal family.
Jan 21, 1793 : Louise XVI executed.
Sept 5, 1793 : Reign of Terror (to July 27, 1794) by Committee of Public Safety
July 27, 1794 : (9 Thermidor II) "White Terror" coup against Jacobins and Robespierre by National Convention
Oct. 5, 1795 : Napoleon crushes Royalist attempt to seize power in Paris.
Nov, 1795 : Directory established (until Nov 9, 1799)
Nov. 9, 1799 : (Coup of 18-19 Brumaire VIII) Napoleon proclaimed end of the revolution and instituted Consulate.

Masonic lodges were first warranted in France in 1725. Two papal edicts, that of Pope Clemence XII on May 4, 1738 and that of Pope Benedict XIV on June 15, 1751, were never registered by the French Parliament and therefore never took effect. Prior to the revolutionary period there were 1,250 lodges in France with an estimated 40,000 members. French Freemasonry of the 18th century was an exclusive group, excluding Jews, actors, employees, workers and servants. The clergy were well represented, and the membership of some lodges, such as La Vertu in Clervaux, were composed entirely of Catholic clergymen. While the nobility were attracted to Freemasonry, the greater majority was made up of the bourgeoisie, to whom the masonic motto of equality appealed to their sense that they were the equal of the nobles.

Many of the army were freemasons. Bernadotte, who lead the troops expelled from Grenoble, and later was a general for Napoleon and then King of Sweden, was a freemason. The cautious response of the army to the outbreak of rebellion in Britany has been ascribed to the number of officers who were freemasons.

The rules for the Estates-General were developed by Minister Necker whose masonic membership is unproven but considered probable, while the election committees created by these rules are claimed to have been mainly composed of freemasons.

Less admirable, Louis Philippe Joseph, 5th duc d'Orleans from 1785, Grand Master of the Grand Orient and later "Citoyen Égalité" (1747/04/13 -1793/11/06), was driven by his hatred for his cousin the King. Within freemasonry two loosely knit groups can be seen to be developing: those who see the Duke as a symbol to achieve their goals of equality, and those who would use Freemasonry as a vehicle for their own political goals.

When the National Assembly is formed, out of the 1,336 delegates to the Estates-General at least 320, or 24%, are believed to have been freemasons.

FREEMASONRY AND THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION

From The Grand Lodge Of Texas

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The month of July is special to all Americans because we celebrate the birth of our nation on the fourth of July. On that date in the year 1776, representatives of the thirteen American colonies, assembled at what is now known as Independence Hall in Philadelphia, adopted a manifesto asserting their political independence from the British crown. We know that document as the American Declaration of Independence.

Over the last two centuries various Masonic writers have often attempted to inflate the involvement of members of the Masonic fraternity in the events leading up to and resulting from this important historic event. It has often been claimed that all or most of the signers of the Declaration of Independence were Freemasons; or that all or most of the general officers serving under Washington were Freemasons. These claims have been made to bolster the theory that the events of the American Revolution and the formation of the American colonies into an independent republic were carried out according to some Masonic plan, and in accordance with universal Masonic principles.

It is always best that such claims be tempered by the light of responsible and accurate historic research, not for the purpose of discounting the patriotic nature of our early American Masonic forbearers, but rather to understand the role that Freemasons did play in the formation of this great nation. Probably the best accounting of Masonic membership among the signers of the Declaration of Independence is provided in the book Masonic Membership of the Founding Fathers, by Ronald E. Heaton, published by the Masonic Service Association at Silver Spring, Maryland. According to this well researched and documented work, proof of Masonic membership can be found for only eight of the fifty-six signers of the Declaration of Independence. They are:
•Benjamin Franklin, of the Tun Tavern Lodge at Philadelphia;
•John Hancock, of St. Andrew's Lodge in Boston;
•Joseph Hewes, who was recorded as a Masonic visitor to Unanimity Lodge No. 7, Edenton, North Carolina, in December 1776;
•William Hooper, of Hanover Lodge, Masonborough, North Carolina;
•Robert Treat Payne, present at Grand Lodge at Roxbury, Massachusetts, in June 1759;
•Richard Stockton, charter Master of St. John's Lodge, Princeton, Massachusetts in 1765;
•George Walton, of Solomon's Lodge No. 1, Savannah, Georgia; and
•William Whipple, of St. John's Lodge, Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

Additionally, another five or six signers have from time to time been identified as members of the fraternity based on inconclusive or unsubstantiated evidence.

As for the Masonic membership among Washington’s generals, it is true that many were members of the fraternity, but many were not. The recognized modern authority on the subject is James R. Case, former Grand Historian of the Grand Lodge of Connecticut, who published his findings in the 1955 booklet Fifty Early American Military Freemasons.

When examining the participation of Freemasons in the American Revolution we should first remember the Ancient Charges of a Freemason, and especially that charge concerning “the Civil Magistrates, Supreme and Subordinate,” which enjoins the Mason to be “a peaceable subject to the Civil Powers” and “never to be concern'd in plots and conspiracies against the peace and welfare of the nation.” This charge was listed as the second of those contained in the Constitutions adopted by the Premier Grand Lodge at London in 1723, long before the American Revolution. How then can we justify the participation of American Freemasons in their rebellion against the King?

The answer can be given in two parts. First, the Masonic fraternity in the American colonies took no part in the Revolution, following Masonic tradition by taking no official stance. However, the fraternity’s official neutrality may have owed as much to the divided loyalties of its leadership as it did to Masonic tradition. Many Masons were Loyalists. And second, rebellion against the state, whether justified or unjustified, is not a Masonic offense. The Old Charges state clearly “if a Brother should be a Rebel against the State, ... if convicted of no other Crime, ... they cannot expel him from the Lodge, and his Relation to it remains indefeasible.” This simply means that, in the case of the American Revolution, many brethren, feeling that the actions of the crown warranted revolution and independence, were justified in following their consciences without fear of violating their Masonic obligations or any Masonic law.

As the charge concerning the Civil Magistrates reminds us, “Masonry hath been always injured by War, Bloodshed, and Confusion,” the fraternity was indeed injured by the war. General Joseph Warren, Grand Master of the Ancient’s Provincial Grand Lodge of Massachusetts, lost his life at the Battle of Bunker Hill in June 1775 and his body was thrown into an unmarked grave. While he had led the American troops during that battle, his lodge brother, Dr. John Jeffries assisted the British troops. Nearly a year later, his body was exhumed and identified by another Lodge brother, Paul Revere.

Even before the Declaration of Independence, colonial Masonry suffered from the disruptions of the war, and the division of loyalties among its members. Many lodges found it difficult to meet regularly, and others ceased to meet at all. Many lodges were disbanded as occupying British forces prohibited private assemblies, and loyalist Masons fled the country or joined the British forces.

Although the Masonic fraternity played no part in the Revolutionary War, it can easily be shown that in many ways the revolutionary ideals of equality, freedom, and democracy were espoused by the Masonic fraternity long before the American colonies began to complain about the injustices of British taxation. The revolutionary ideals expressed in the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, and the writings of Thomas Paine, were ideals that had come to fruition over a century before in the early speculative lodges of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, where men sat as equals, governed themselves by a Constitution, and elected their own leaders from their midst. In many ways, the self-governing Masonic lodges of the previous centuries had been learning laboratories for the concept of self-government.

On September 18, 1793, President George Washington, dressed in his Masonic apron, leveled the cornerstone of the United States Capitol with the traditional Masonic ceremony. Historian Stephen Bullock in his book Revolutionary Brotherhood carefully notes the historic and symbolic significance of that ceremony. The Masonic brethren, dressed in their fraternal regalia, had assembled in grand procession, and were formed for that occasion as representative of Freemasonry's new found place of honor in an independent American society. At that moment, the occasion of the laying of the new Republic's foundations, Freemasons assumed the mantles “high priests” of that “first temple dedicated to the sovereignty of the people,” and they “helped form the symbolic foundations of what the Great Seal called ‘the new order for the ages’.”

Bolshevik Freemasons and the Russian Revolution

Roll call of the Bolshevik Party
[link to en.wikipedia.org]

Several sources reveal that Lenin became a freemason whilst abroad in 1908. One of these sources is a thorough investigation: Nikolai Svitkov's "About Freemasonry in Russian Exile", published in Paris in 1932.

• According to the Austrian political scientist Karl Steinhauser's "EG - die Super-UdSSR von morgen" / "The European Union - the Super Soviet Union (USSR) of Tomorrow" (Vienna, 1992, p. 192), Lenin belonged to the Masonic lodge Art et Travail (Art and Labour).

• The famous British politician Winston Churchill also confirmed that Lenin and Trotsky belonged to the circle of the Masonic and Illuminist conspirators. (Illustrated Sunday Herald, 8 February 1920.)

• Lenin, Zinoviev, Radek and Sverdlov also belonged to B'nai B'rith. Researchers who are specialised in the activities of B'nai B'rith, including Schwartz-Bostunich, confirmed this information. (Viktor Ostretsov, "Freemasonry, Culture and Russian History", Moscow, 1999, pp. 582-583.)

• Lenin was a freemason of the 31st degree (Grand Inspecteur Inquisiteur Commandeur) and a member of the lodge Art et Travail in Switzerland and France. (Oleg Platonov, "Russia's Crown of Thorns: The Secret History of Freemasonry", Moscow, 2000, part II, p. 417.)

• When Lenin visited the headquarters of Grand Orient on rue Cadet in Paris, he signed the visitors' book. (Viktor Kuznetsov, "The Secret of the October Coup", St. Petersburg, 2001, p. 42.)

• Together with Trotsky, Lenin took part in the International Masonic Conference in Copenhagen in 1910. (Franz Weissin, "Der Weg zum Sozialismus" / "The Road to Socialism", Munich, 1930, p. 9.) The socialisation of Europe was on the agenda.

• Alexander Galpern, then secretary of the Masonic Supreme Council, confirmed in 1916 that there were Bolsheviks among the freemasons. I can further mention Nikolai Sukhanov (Himmer) and N. Sokolov. According to Galpern's testimony, the freemasons also gave Lenin financial aid to his revolutionary activity. This was certified by a known freemason, Grigori Aronson, in his article "Freemasons in Russian Politics", published in the Novoye Russkoye Slovo (New York, 8-12 October 1959). The historian Boris Nikolayevsky also mentioned this in his book "The Russian Freemasons and the Revolution" (Moscow, 1990).

• In 1914, two Bolsheviks, Ivan Skvortsov-Stepanov and Grigori Petrovsky, contacted the freemason Alexander Konovalov for economic aid. The latter became a minister in the Provisional Government.

The Founding Fathers
Of Modern Turkey

By Jack Manuelian

David Musa Pidcock, in his book "Satanic Voices", says that " the city of Constantinople fell to an army of between 70,000 and 80,000 occult Masonic Jews and 20,000 crypto-Muslim Jews, without a shot being fired." and that "within six years of the Young Turk revolution of 1908 and the fall of Constantinople to the 70,000 Jews the great war of WWI began on schedule." During that war some half and million Armenians living in Turkey, along with other half million other Christians of Turkey like Greeks, the Assyrians and Aramaian were barbarously killed in what came to be known as the First Genocide of the twenty century.

However, David is dead wrong in assuming that all the Jews of Salonika were involved in "overtaking Constantinople," only certain Jews were involved and the majority were Innocent. The Young Turk movement, in its initial phase even had some Greeks and Armenians in its members, as David himself quotes Lady Quennborough (Edith Starr Miller) from her book Occult Theocracy: "Not till 1900, when the Grand Orient virtually took over the Young Turk Party which was composed chiefly of Jews, Greeks and Armenians, did this movement assume a serious aspect." Page 585.

Texe Marrs, in his article entitled "Sea of Blood" wrote that in 1908 " Masonic Jewish socialists overthrew the Islamic Ottoman government of Turkey and commenced [in 1915] the genocidal murder of two million Christian Armenians. 'Butcher Brigades' of criminals cut off so many hands of Christian victims, the British Consul reported, that, if placed side-by-side, a highway could have been built of severed human hands." Besides a photo of a withered black hand, Texe comments: "This severed hand of a Christian Armenian woman slain in the massacre was dried and kept as a souvenir and talisman by a Jewish Mason in the town of Salonika." Hunger, Thirst, and Concentration Camps (http://www.texemarrs.com/052005/sea_of_blood.htm)

What Texe Marrs did miss is that those dried and withered hands, treated with vinegar and spices and turned black in color, are kept not as souvenirs but are used as talismans in a witchcraft ceremony to cast spells and curses.

David Pidcock corroborates his claim with extracts from two official documents. One is taken from "The Acacia" (October 1908 issue), the Masonic organ of the Grand Orient, an official Masonic publication:

"A secret Young Turk council was formed and the whole movement was directed from Salonika. Salonika, the most Jewish town in Europe-70,000 Jews out of a population of 100,000- was specially suited for the purpose. It already contained several lodges, in which the revolutionaries could work without being disturbed. These Lodges are under the Protection of European diplomacy. And as the Sultan was without weapon against them, his fall was inevitable...On the 1st May, 1909, the representatives of 45 Turkish Lodges met in Constantinople and founded the 'Grand Orient Ottoman'. Mahmoud Orphi Pasha was nominated Grand Master....A short time after a Supreme Council of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rites was also founded and recognized by the French and Italian authorities." Source--Vicomte Leon de Poncins in his The Secret Powers Behind the Revolution, page 66.

The other document is a letter from Sir Gerard Lowther of the British Embassy in Constantinople to Sir Charles Harding. The letter is stated to be private and confidential, dated May 29, 1910, In Constantinople:

"Dear Charles, Gorst's [Sir Eldon Goest, Consul-General in Cairo, Egypt] telegram of the 23rd April about the rumored appointment of Mohamed Farid as delegate in Egypt of the Constantinople Freemasons, 'said to be intimately connected with the committee of Union and Progress [of the Young Turks]', prompts me to write to you at some length on the strain of continental Freemasonry running through the Young Turk movement.

"I do so privately and confidentially, as this new Freemasonry in Turkey, unlike that of England and America, is in great part secret and political, and information on the subject is only available in strict confidence, while those who betray its political secrets seem to stand in fear of the hand of the Mafia.

"As you are aware, the Young Turkey movement in Paris was quite separate from and in great part in ignorance of the inner workings of that in Salonika. The latter has a population of about 140,000, of whom 80,000 are Spanish Jews, and 20,000 of the sect of Sabetai Levi (Zevi) or Crypto-Jews, who externally profess Islamism. Many of the former [Spanish Jews] have in the past acquired Italian Nationality and are Freemasons affiliated to Italian Lodges. Nathan, the Jewish Lord Mayor of Rome, is high up in Masonry, and the Jewish Premiers Luzzati and Sonnino, and other Jewish senators and deputies, are also, it appears, Masons. They claim to have been founded from and to follow the ritual of the 'Ancient Scottish.'

"...The inspiration of the movement in Salonika would seem to have been mainly Jewish [Ataturk also came from Salonika], while the words 'Liberty', 'Equality', 'Fraternity', the motto of the Young Turks, are also the device of Italian Freemasons...Shortly after the revolution in July 1908, when the Committee established itself in Constantinople, it soon became known that many of its leading members were Freemasons..."

David, in his book, give an excerpt from "The Times History of the War" volume 14, page 308: "

"Salonika, with its 80,000 Jews speaking their inherited Spanish dialect, was already a Jewish home; and who could except a Jew, with his history of wandering behind him, to abandon lightly so fair an asylum? Loyalty and material interest combined to make the Sephardim stay where they were and stand by the Turks. They became linked to the Turks more intimately through a crypto-Jewish Moslem community, the Donme, descended from Sephardim converted in the seventeenth century [to Islam].

"The Donme were represented by Djavid Bey, the finance minister...and through Oriental Free Masonry, which they controlled, the Salonika Sephardim were associated from the beginning with the Young Turkish movement. In Turkey as in Hungry, and from the same mixed motives of gratitude and ambition, they threw in their lot with the ruling race, and they supplied the intellectual element in the new Turkish Nationalism.

"The author of the standard exposition of the 'Pan-Turanian Movement', who calls himself by the pure Turkish name of 'Tekin Alp', is believed to have been a Salonika Jew, and there is also reason to suppose that the secularizing, anti-Islamic tendency which is also so remarkable a feature in Pan-Turanianism was partly the effect of this Jewish influence."

David believes in the existence of a Judeo-Masonic conspiracy directed against Orthodox Jews and Orthodox Christians, along with a conspiracy of cover up. He writes "a conspiracy of chutzpah to obfuscate is well established." This latter conspiracy could explain why there are still some who deny the First Genocide of the 20th Century, during WWI; the risk from being exposed would be too much a payment.

This conspiracy of chutzpah (chutzpah is a Jewish term meaning shameless impudence) to obfuscate exist also in regard to the Second Genocide, during WWII. David claims in his book that when Zionists found out at the turn of the century that the majority of the poor Jewish people of Europe were not interested in moving to a new homeland in Palestine, "a parcel of land" (as Theodor Herzl referred to it) which he was trying to purchase from the Ottoman Sultan, who by the way refused to sell or give, Theodor "hit upon the master plan, which he estimated correctly, would enable the Zionists to obtain Palestine througt the sympathy generated in the west by the mass sacrifice [the holocaust] of some of those poor Jews." Which turned out to be in the millions, and the plan quite successful, this success can be attributed in part to the fact that those conspirators tested the Genocide on the Armenians first before applying it on the masses of the poor Jews.

Indeed, the Armenian Genocide was a dry-run for the Jewish Genocide, as Barry Chamish himself also said and wrote about. Read the details in

Theodor Herzl

At Basel, I founded the Jewish State. If I said this out loud today, I would be answered by universal laughter. Perhaps in five years, certainly in fifty, everyone will know it.
Theodor Herzl (May 2, 1860 – July 3, 1904) was an Austrian Jewish journalist who became the founder of modern political Zionism. His Hebrew personal names were Binyamin Ze'ev.

When we sink, we become a revolutionary proletariat, the subordinate officers of all revolutionary parties; and at the same time, when we rise, there rises also our terrible power of the purse. Der Judenstaat (1896)

Realists are, as a rule, only men in the rut of routine who are incapable of transcending a narrow circle of antiquated notions. Der Judenstaat (1896)

Some people do not understand us correctly and believe that the goal of our effort is to return to our land. Our ideal is going forwards then that - our ideal is the vision of the Great eternal truth; it is an ideal that always goes forward; it is an ideal that never ends, it is always growing, so that every step forward that we take, our horizon keep going ahead of us, and in perspective we see before us the purpose that is greater and more noble, which we’ll try to put our selves towards. From: Zionism - an ideal that never ends - speech, 26 June 1899
