Cabinet bans ad for US-made products

11:22:18 AM
Tehran, Nov 7 - President Khatami administration on wednesday announced an all-out ban on advertising us-made products.
The move came as in response to a letter to the First Vice-President Mohammad-Reze A`ref forwarded by the Secretary of the Society for Defending the Palestinian Nation, Mojtaba Rahmandoust, in which he had referred to banning of US-made products in some Islamic countries, Persian language daily Resalat reported.
Asnotified to the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the body was ordered to announce the case to the press.
While the state broadcast organisation, IRIB has been planned to refrain from broadcasting such adverts, the move will lead to a single procedure by all media and press to follow the suit.
The ban formed part of moves in the Muslim world to boycott US goods due to Washington's Middle East interventionist policies.
