MONTREAL (CP) - An attempt to hijack an Air France airliner flying from Montreal to Paris has been foiled, French officials told the BBC Friday morning.
A man believe to be a Moroccan national had "threatened to blow up the plane," French transport minister Dominique Bussereau told Europe 1 radio. The plane landed safely on Friday morning and the man was arrested at Paris' Roissy- Charles de Gaulle airport, the BBC quoted Bussereau as saying. In a recent hijack attempt, an Arab Israeli man was stopped from breaking into the cockpit of an El Al flight from Tel Aviv to Istanbul.
A man carrying a pistol was overtaken on Oct. 15 when he tried to take over a flight from Sudan to Saudi Arabia.
