CNN has been told by coalition intelligence, that Al Qaeda plans to change strategy from bombing to high-profile assassinations of Western diplomats and other public officials.
CNN has also obtained tapes, showing Al Qaeda trainees practicing methods of assassination in Afganistan.
In the past, al Qaeda have made attempts to assassinate President Clinton and Pope John Paul II - both unsuccessful.
