FORT DRUM, New York (CNN) -- A Black Hawk helicopter on a training mission at Fort Drum, New York, crashed Tuesday in a snowy wooded area, killing 11 of the 13 soldiers aboard -- what one army official called a "sobering" reminder as the nation prepares for possible war.
The army said the two survivors were being treated at a hospital, and that the 11 others aboard have all been accounted for. The conditions of the survivors were not immediately released.
"We will fully investigate this terrible accident," said Maj. Gen. F.L. "Buster" Hagenbeck, the commander of the 10th Mountain Division.
