An extreme right-wing Jewish group called "Revenge of the Infants" claimed responsibility for a mystery blast that ripped through a Palestinian high school in the Jenin-area West Bank village of Jaba'a Wednesday, injuring at least 15 Palestinian teenagers, three of them seriously.
In a statement to reporters, the group said it had planted the bomb in revenge for the murders of Jewish children by Palestinians.
In the past, the shadowy group had claimed responsibility for terror attacks in which Palestinians were killed on West Bank highways.
One of the students at the school apparently discovered the bomb, which went off when the student came in contact with it.
The city's mayor, Lutfi Abu Oun, said all of the wounded were taken to hospitals in the nearby city of Jenin.
An IDF spokeswoman said no troops were in the area at the time but rescue teams were sent to the school after the blast.

Misselijk barbarenwerk dit. Laat toch in hemelsnaam die kinderen buiten je meningsverschillen. Extreem rechtse joden zijn toch niet minder eng dan de fanatiekste Hamas aanhangers. Daar mogen best wel wat nederzettingen voor worden omgemaaid. Daar mag Sharon ook wel eens wat werk van maken als ie toch zo met het terrorisme in zijn maag zit.

Israeli police and security officials maintain there is no evidence indicating a Jewish extremist group was responsible for the bombing of a Palestinian school in the northern West Bank on Wednesday.
An extreme right-wing Jewish group called "Revenge of the Infants" claimed responsibility for the mystery blast that ripped through a Palestinian high school in the Jenin-area West Bank village of Jaba'a on Wednesday, wounding at least 15 Palestinian teenagers, three of them seriously.
Police are increasingly confident, however, in their belief that one of the students brought the bomb with him to school and accidentally detonated the device.
Police intend to enter the school, located in Area B (under Palestinian Authority civil control), in order to investigate the blast.
In a statement sent to reporters' beepers, the extremist group said it had planted the bomb in revenge for the murders of Jewish children by Palestinians.

Bomb in school near Jenin wounds 15 pupils

A bomb, apparently brought to a Jenin area school by one of the pupils, or possibly hidden by a terrorist group, blew up in a classroom at the boys' school in the village of Jeva yesterday, wounding 15 students, two seriously.
The 10th-grade class was getting a lesson in first aid when the teacher came back to the classroom after stepping out to get some chalk.
According to one of the pupils, nobody had noticed anything unusual in the classroom before the explosion.
At first, teachers suspected a Jewish terrorist cell might be responsible, particularly due to troubles they have had with settlers from the nearby settlement of Humash. But Palestinian sources rejected the theory. The pupils had been in the classroom for at least three hours before the explosion, said the sources, and apparently the bomb was brought into the classroom shortly before it went off. Palestinian sources said they are examining the possibility that one of the Palestinian organizations wanted to hide the bomb in the school for future use and that it went off prematurely.
The defense establishment in Israel meanwhile discounted the possibility that a Jewish group calling itself "Toddlers' revenge" was responsible, noting that their call to reporters came hours after the blast, and that the Palestinians were calling the bombing a "work accident."
The police and Shin Bet say there are at least two Jewish groups involved in terror attacks on Palestinians operating in the territories, but except for a cell from Bat Ayin - which was was attempting to leave an explosives-laden trailer near a girls' school in East Jerusalem last year when it was caught by a routine police patrol - nobody has been arrested during nearly two years of off-and-on attacks.
There seem to be two main groups - one specializes in shootings and has managed to kill at least eight people, wounding several more. The other specializes in bombings, trying several times to set off bombs in crowded Palestinian areas, including five bombs in Palestinian schools. Three of those attempts were uncovered before the bomb went off.

Zoals te lezen valt, heeft de groep, nog voor de politie naar buiten kwam met een theorie over de explosie, de aanslag opgeeist.
