2 US Soldiers Killed In Rocket Attack
PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Apr 26 (PNS) - At least two US soldiers were reported killed and 17 wounded, some of them seriously when unidentified assailants attacked a patrolling party in a Birmal in the Paktika province, informed sources from across the border said here on Friday.
“Three military vehicles of the coalition forces were also completely destroyed in the daring daylight attack,” the sources claimed, revealing that an American soldier was killed by the unidentified assailants.
Although no clue to the attackers could be found immediately, the Afghan government’s suspicion fell on Taliban and al-Qaeda fighters, hiding in the area.
“The assault has proven that the US-backed Afghan government is still far from eliminating militancy from the war-weary country,” the source remarked.
Soon after the attack, American warplanes bombarded the Shakeen area in Birmal. The bombardment, however, caused no major damage because of the hilly and rocky terrain. Residents, however, were gripped by fear.
