IRAQI DETAINEE DIES IN COALITION CUSTODY

MACDILL, AFB, FL-On June 6, an Iraqi detainee being held at a Coalition facility in the vicinity of An Nasiriyah was found deceased. The detainee had been in Coalition custody since May 3.

A full and thorough investigation into the death is being conducted by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, and the findings of the investigation will be released when the investigation is complete.

PRISONER DIES AFTER ESCAPE ATTEMPT

MACDILL AFB, FL - Two prisoners being held by Coalition Forces at the Baghdad International Airport holding area tried to escape early today. One prisoner was subsequently transported to an Iraqi hospital where he died from gunshot wounds sustained in the incident.

The other prisoner who tried to escape was re-captured.

DETAINEES ATTEMPT TO ESCAPE FROM COALITION FORCES

BAGHDAD -- During an attempted detainment facility escape Friday, one detainee was killed and seven were wounded. Two of the wounded detainees are in critical condition. All of the wounded detainees were medically evacuated to a military combat support hospital for treatment.

The detainees attempted to escape from the Abu Garhib prison complex. Coalition Military Police guards fired several shots in self-defense and efforts to quell the escape attempt.

Detainees throwing rocks and brandishing shanks rushed the Guards. One guard received minor injuries.

Circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation.
