NEW YORK In verscheidene steden in de
VS en Canada is rond 16.00 uur lokale
tijd de stroom uitgevallen.In New York
is alle vlieg-,metro- en treinverkeer
tot stilstand gekomen.Duizenden mensen
zitten vast in liften,metro's en
treinen.
Op de vliegvelden werken ook telefoons
niet.
Tienduizenden mensen zijn in paniek de
de straat opgerend.
De stroomuitval begon in New York en
verplaatste zich daarna naar andere
steden,waaronder Detroit en Cleveland
en Toronto en Ottawa in Canada.

Ik zag net CNN, gelukkig nog geen paniek, maar wat een mensenmassa's op die freeways zeg. Je zult in de subway zitten en claustrofobisch zijn! of in een lift ergens op de 40e etage! :fpimp:
Iedere gezagsdrager benadrukt dat er geen sprake is van Sabotage of terreur.
Gelukkig is het nog licht, als het langer aanhoudt, hebben misdadige elementen natuurlijk volop kans hun slag te slaan als er geen alarminstalaties meer werken. biraat

Sabotage led to blackout: FEA

Preliminary investigations into blackouts at Navua, Deuba and Pacific Harbour on Friday and Saturday have raised suspicion that a hacksaw was used to cut into power cables.
Police are working on leads into the alleged act of sabotage of an underground cable running beneath the Fiji Industries bridge.
Fiji Electricity Authority spokeswoman Arieta Kumar said if the person would have cut into the high voltage area of the cables there could have been a major fire and even fatalities.
“It could have been someone who knew about the dangers of high voltage cables,” she said
Ms Kumar said the matter was reported to police after a team of technicians patrolling the cable route to locate the cause of blackouts saw sparks under the bridge.
“The underground cable running beneath the Fiji Industries bridge at the approach to Lami from the Wailekutu end, was found to have been cut in three places, that resulted in an explosion,” she said.
Ms Kumar said the technicians reported “they saw attempts to have the cable sliced in three spots”.
“Each attempt was a different depth with one hitting very close to the core of the cable that would have triggered an explosion and the sparks,” she said.
Ms Kumar said preliminary investigations had revealed a hacksaw was used to slice the cable.
“Fragments of a hacksaw blade were found at the site and the damaged cables are at the Lami Police Station,” she said.
