Gaza - The Palestinian water authority has charged that the Zionist occupation authority’s control on sewage services in the Palestinian lands had numerous negative repercussions on the Palestinian people.
Fadl Ka’osh, deputy manager of the authority, said that Tel Aviv was responsible for the deterioration of the sewage sector in the Palestinian lands due to its negligence of treatment stations and sewage systems established by Palestinian municipalities.
He said that the so-called “Israeli civil administration” did not extend any new services in this sector, noting that only 16% of Palestinians in urban areas (cities and refugee camps) benefited from the services of a central sewage network.
Ka’osh said that Tel Aviv made use of treated water of Palestinian West Bank cities in irrigating Zionist farmlands.
The Palestinian official underlined that the Hebrew state’s use of irrigation water is four times more than the Palestinian use.
He pointed out that the intentional Zionist delay in implementing signed agreements with the Palestinian Authority was increasing the risk of polluting groundwater.
Zionist settlements in Palestinian lands were further contributing in polluting those lands and waters in addition to causing health and environmental problems in Palestinian cities and villages near to those settlements, the Palestinian official underlined.
