ISRAEL MULLS MISSION AGAINST IRAN'S NUKES

TEL AVIV-- For the first time, Israel's military has raised the prospect of an operation to destroy Iran's suspected nuclear weapons program.
Senior government and military officials, alarmed by the failure of the international community to move against Iran, have issued warnings that Israel would consider unilateral action to stop Teheran's development of nuclear weapons. The clearest warnings yet came on the eve of another effort by the International Atomic Energy Agency to investigate suspected Iranian violations of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The suspected violations include the unauthorized enrichment of uranium.
"The fact that a country like Iran, an enemy [of Israel] and which is particularly irresponsible, has equipped itself with nonconventional weapons is worrisome," Israeli Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Moshe Ya'alon said. "The combination in this case of a nonconventional regime with nonconventional weapons is a concern."
"At the moment there is continuing international diplomatic activity to deal with this threat, and it would be good if it succeeds," Ya'alon added. "But if that is not the case we would consider our options."

An Israeli professor and military historian hinted that Israel could avenge the holocaust by annihilating millions of Germans and other Europeans.
Speaking during an interview which was published in Jerusalem Friday, Professor Martin Van Crevel said Israel had the capability of hitting most European capitals with nuclear weapons.
"We possess several hundred atomic warheads and rockets and can launch them at targets in all directions, perhaps even at Rome. Most European capitals are targets of our air force."
Creveld, a professor of military history at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, pointed out that "collective deportation" was Israel's only meaningful strategy towards the Palestinian people.
"The Palestinians should all be deported. The people who strive for this (the Israeli government) are waiting only for the right man and the right time. Two years ago, only 7 or 8 per cent of Israelis were of the opinion that this would be the best solution, two months ago it was 33 per cent, and now, according to a Gallup poll, the figure is 44 percent."
Creveld said he was sure that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon wanted to deport the Palestinians.
"I think it's quite possible that he wants to do that. He wants to escalate the conflict. He knows that nothing else we do will succeed."
Asked if he was worried about Israel becoming a rouge state if it carried out a genocidal deportation against Palestinians, Creveld quoted former Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Dayan who said "Israel must be like a mad dog, too dangerous to bother."
Creveld argued that Israel wouldn't care much about becoming a rouge state.
"Our armed forces are not the thirtieth strongest in the world, but rather the second or third. We have the capability to take the world down with us. And I can assure you that that this will happen before Israel goes under."

:kotsen2: allereerst ... om wille van "eer" allerlei gevaarlijke dingen doen, lijkt me vrij dom! Alleen als land en volk baat bij een handeling hebben - ook een gevaarlijke - moet je de handeling overwegen.
Als ik de laatste tijd zie wat er om wille van "eer" wordt gedaan, dan wordt ik liever eerloos genoemd. De eerlozen in deze wereld lijken zich menselijker te gedragen dan zij die zich vanwege hun eer op hun borst kloppen.
Verder heeft Crefeld gezegd (NB: een analist, geen regeringsvertegenwoordiger!) dat Israel de mogelijkheid heeft om nucleair om zich heen te slaan en dat veel europese hoofdsteden in de actieradius liggen.
Itt Iran staan er op de Israelische raketten niet teksten als "Wij vernietigen Italië" oid. Daarom hebben de meeste europese politici (en burgers) het idee dat dit vooral een retorische illustratie was van de macht van Israel, maar dat deze wapens in eerste instantie duidelijk op andere doelen gericht staan. daarom denk ik ook dat de overgrote meerderheid in Europa van deze mededeling niet wakker heeft gelegen.
Kortom, Europeanen kijken of de dreiging reëel is of alleen maar "woorden". Zowel Amerika als Israel is met hun "dreigementen" retorisch bezig - waarbij de Vs wel ver gaan ... maar ook heel duidelijk weten dat als het IS volgens zijn eigen statuten ageert het ONMOGELIJK is dat een Amerikaan voor het hof verschijnt.

Denk je nou werkelijk met agressieve taal, agressieve gedachtes uit te lokken.
Israel zal die jongen heus niet Nuken, daar hebben ze de positie niet voor. En de VS al helemaal niet, die habben wel wat beters om te doen.
Iran heeft nog geen kernwapens en zal deze ook zeker niet te lanceren (anders licht hun land zoveel op erna dat het op mars nog goed te zien is.
Dit wordt gewoon weer politiek opgelost. En nee, de VS valt hun heus niet binnen, daar heeft Bush niet de tijd, het geld of support voor. En hun volgende president wordt waarschijnlijk een democraat, die voeren over het algemeen niet zo snel oorlog omdat ze juist meer met de wereld willen discussieren. (zoals Bill Clinton)
Wat ik me overigens afvraag, wat is de mening over de VS als er weer een democraat zoals Bill aan komt, die drukten niet zoveel hun stempel op de werld op een gewelddadige manier.
