Colombian ELN kidnappers: Sharon is an imperialist
By Yossi Melman, Haaretz Correspondent, and Agencies
The National Liberation Army (ELN), which has claimed responsibility for the September 12 kidnapping in Colombia of eight tourists, including four Israelis, accused Prime Minister Ariel Sharon of "partnership in global imperialism" in a communique sent to a local Colombian radio station on Tuesday.
"Allende's murderers are the real terrorists," the communique said. "Imperialism and the extreme-right are present today in the White House - yesterday it was Pinochet, and today it is Bush, Sharon, Blair and Uribe."
This is the only reference to the nationality of the abducted tourists, and other leaders mentioned in the communique are U.S. President George Bush, British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Colombia's President Alvaro Uribe.
