Israel developed nuclear warheads for its submarines

The Los Angeles Times reported Saturday that Israel has modified U.S.-supplied cruise missiles and fitted them with nuclear warheads, thus enabling the Israeli navy to launch a nuclear strike from its submarines.
The report, by senior Bush administration officials, was verified by Israeli officials, though all three spoke with the newspaper on condition of anonymity.
According to the newspaper, this development may hinder U.S. efforts to foil Iranian aspirations to attain military nuclear capacities.
Iran announced in early October that it would do all it could to dispel international fears over its nuclear program, which it claims are solely for energy production.
The UN's International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has given Tehran an October 31 deadline to accept full inspections and prove it has no nuclear arms program.
A failure to meet the deadline may lead the IAEA to present the matter to the UN's Security Council, which could results in international sanctions against Iran.
