Astonishment in Israel over opinion poll finding most Europeans believe that Israel is the biggest danger to world peace
Yediot's Boaz Bismut and Itamar Eichner: 60% of Europeans believe that Israel is the biggest anger to world peace - ahead of Iran, North Korea and Afghanistan. This is the finding of a European Union poll.

Israeli Foreign Ministry sources say the poll is 'scandalous'. Political sources in Israel say that the questions in the survey were worded in a politically slanted way, and accused the European commission of leaking some of the findings with the aim of harming Israel's name in the world.

The sources said: 'It is not acceptable that the European Commission will so such surveys. Why should the Commission waste European money in order to conduct an opinion poll on a such a philosophical question? From the information we received it is seen that the poll was slanted, because they didn't ask which country endangers world peace, but rather gave a list and asked for ranking. The very fact of the inserting of the countries on the list and the order of their appearance influenced the results. In addition, the poll ignores the circumstances Israel is in and the threat of terror'.

Diaspora Affairs Minister Natan Sharansky last night said: 'The European Union which shows sensitivity to the subject of human rights, should act in order to prevent the brainwashing and demonization against Israel before Europe again deteriorates into the dark districts of the past'. (woahahahahahahahahaha....ze kunnen het ook niet laten hè...woahahahah)

Alongside of the criticism, Foreign Ministry sources say that the poll indicates that European opinion is very unsympathetic to Israel, and that recently an additional deterioration has taken place in the image of Israel, among other reasons because of the separation fence, the Israeli ignoring of the EU stance, and the publicizing of the Geneva understandings which were rejected by the Israeli government.

An Israeli diplomat in an important European capital said last night: 'The average European doesn't like Israel, because he has a totally different agenda. What interests him is his vacation, and all that interferes with his good life endangers the peace of his world, which is a hedonistic and rich world. The European isn't interested by the fact that women and children are being killed here in terror attacks'.
