Magazine Says Qaeda Vows Big Strike by February

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (Reuters) - A London-based Arab magazine said Friday that Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network has vowed to carry out a major attack by February, and to target Japan if it sends troops to Iraq.
The London based al-Majalla weekly said it received an e-mail from a little known al Qaeda member, Abu Mohammed al-Ablaj, in which he said the group planned a "big operation" before early February. The authenticity of the e-mail could not be verified.
"He (Ablaj) reiterated al Qaeda's promises and threats to attack the United States and Japan ... as soon as one of its soldiers enters Iraq," said the magazine in an article faxed to Reuters. "And he said Japan was one of the easiest places to destroy and that the Japanese know this."
