Brown & Root to recruit in Germany

Stars and Stripes
European edition, Sunday, November 30, 2003

Who can say that, as a kid, they ever dreamt about someday working in places like Afghanistan or Uzbekistan?

Not many.

But, as kids know, adults are different.

Job recruiters with Kellogg, Brown & Root are passing through Germany this holiday season for a three-day visit to Hanau and Wiesbaden. The engineering and construction arm of Halliburton has the primary Defense Department contract to reconstruct Iraq.

The list of jobs the company desires to fill is lengthy.

A number of “specialists” are sought in the postal, property, ammunition and mine fields, and traditional jobs, from cook to cop, are on the list.

There is also an emphasis on machines and morale. And recruiters seem especially interested in “operators,” people with practical and management expertise in areas such as water, electrical power, logistics, fuel, airfields, computers, finance and maintenance. And firefighters are wanted, too.

Anyone interested in these jobs or others should bring their résumé to one of two locations: Wiesbaden Army Airfield, Bldg. 1023E, Room 3 (DSN 337-5709); or Pioneer Casern, Hanau, Bldg. 11, Room 325 (DSN 322-8308).

The recruiters will visit Wiesbaden on Dec. 10 and 12, with the jaunt to Hanau sandwiched in between on Dec. 11. Each presentation starts at 9 a.m. and will take about an hour. Interviews run until 3 p.m.

Job applicants who are leaving Germany in the next 60 days should furnish stateside telephone numbers. Army Career and Alumni Program offices are accepting résumés and further inquiries.
