I question the timing of Saddam’s recent capture. After all, Bush has been lagging severely in the polls lately, has recently (and awkwardly) attempted to distance himself from the scandal of Halliburton’s theft of $61 million dollars of US taxpayer’s money as a result of overcharging for illegally obtained oil, and has seen a rise in a formidable foe in Howard Dean (who Bush does NOT want to see in a debate). They probably had Saddam captured a while ago, and only chose to release news of his “capture” when it was most beneficial to the Bush regime. Who knows?
Not surprisingly, I'm not alone in this opinion. Washington state Congressman Jim McDermott recently suggested that Pres. Now, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright is telling (http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/en/doc/2003-12/18/content_291414.htm) (click it !! ) reporters that the Bush administration may already have captured Osama bin Laden and will release the news just before next year's presidential election. Somebody must've pulled her coat tails, because now she's backing off of her comments. But she was dead serious.
On Fox News Channel's "Special Report with Brit Hume," Roll Call reporter Morton Kondracke recounted Albright's comments to him during an encounter before Tuesday night's broadcast, while she was waiting in the green room to appear on another show. Kondracke said the former Clinton official approached him and asked, "Do you suppose that the Bush administration has Osama bin Laden hidden away somewhere and will bring him out before the election?". Kondracke said that Albright didn't seem to be joking, explaining, "She was not smiling." He shot back, "You can't seriously believe that." Albright replied that she thought a bin Laden October Surprise orchestrated by Bush was "a possibility." It’s important for us to remember that this bullshit war on “terror” is still a failure of epic proportions (if it was ever meant to be successful) and we cannot allow ourselves to be hoodwinked by an administration whose game plan of murder for profit and propagandized coverup is transparent and sloppy at best.
War on Terror? More like a grand ammo dump at the expense of people of color. And why not? We’re undesireables anyway, right? It’s easy to connect the dots. Saddam wasn’t a threat to out national security, and he had nothing to do with 9-11. Still no weapons of mass destruction, and still no Osama (he was supposedly the original target, remember). We needed forced conflict in both Afghanistan and Iraq just long enough to stabilize those regions for U.S. corporate interests. Still no truth. And yet we still die.
Most disturbing of all is the fact that the media still sits on it’s hands and doesn’t question the lies surrounding these illegal wars, won’t initiate an independent investigation into the cause and profiteers of 9-11 (which started all of this mess in the first place), or do an long, comprehensive expose on the dealings and comfortable relationships our elected officials and big business had with so-called terrorists.
Now these killers are touting an “economic turnaround.” What bullshit. Can’t you see the manipulation? But how short our memory is. Is this “economic stimulation” directly benefiting you? Probably not. At least, not unless you work for big oil or defense. But, remember, if Fox News says it’s so, then it must be true, right? They Distort. You Comply.

10,000 dead innocent Iraqi citizens (and counting)
