Janitor Caught Filming High School Females Shoots Himself
Allen Wemes, a janitor who worked 20 years for the Pittsford school district, has been found dead in the woods behind his house in the Rochester, NY area. He apparently shot himself.
He was accused of filming female students and faculty members in a high school restroom. The district suspended him without pay last month for having pornography on school grounds. The investigation into possible charges was still on when he died.
New York State first made video voyeurism a crime last summer. Prison sentences can go from 1 to 7 years with internet distribution of images leading in a longer sentence. The law is called Stephanie's Law after a woman whose landlord spied on her.
