Couple Admits Keeping Adopted Teens in Diapers and Cages
A couple in the Durham Region, which is close to Toronto, Canada, has admitted they kept their two adopted teens in cages that looked like baby cribs. The 2 teens wore diapers and were beat on a regular basis for 13 years of their life.
Relatives made a complaint and Durham police discovered them in May of 2001. One was 15 and the other was 14. They both went into foster homes and now go to high school. They were ages 1 and 2 when the abuse began.
Failure to provide the necessities of life, forcible confinement and assault with a weapon are charges the couple pleaded guilty to. The adoptive mother told others the boys were "mentally challenged." The couple gets sentenced in April.
