Teacher In Court Over Assult Claim Of Muslim Pupil
Hazel Dick, a 43 year old teacher at Bretton Woods Community School in Peterborough, UK, is alleged to have assaulted a 15 year old Muslim pupil when she forcibly removed her headscarf, scratching the teenagers chin on the pin holding it in place.
The teacher is also accused of insulting the girl by saying that Islam was a big joke. The details of the incident are being heard at Peterborough Crown Court where the teacher is accused of religiously aggravated common assault.
She denies the charge, relating to an altercation in March 2003. The trial continues.
