Ugandans Suing UK For £3 Trillion Compensation For Colonial Crimes
The Bunyoro-Kitara kingdom in Uganda is taking the UK to the International Court in the Hague. They are to present written evidence that atrocities were committed by soldiers during the colonial period.
A spokesman for the Kingdom Ernest Kizza said that they are looking for £3 trillion ($5.500bn) in compensation. They also plan to sue the governments of the Buganda kingdom and Uganda to get stolen land back.
"Bunyoro was one of the richest kingdom's in Africa that was plundered and destroyed. Until now the population is in poverty," Mr Kizza said. The Kingdom claims to have letters written to the then Queen of England supporting their claims.
