Putin one of few foreign guests to Schroeder jubilee

HANNOVER, April 16 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin is one of the few foreign guests to the 60th jubilee of German Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder. The Chancellor is celebrating the jubilee in Hannover, where his wife Doris and daughter Clara live.
Schroeder celebrated his birthday on April 7. He was away to Italy on that day to avoid official ceremonies in Berlin.
About 350 people are invited to attend the Hannover celebrations, and after that the Chancellor may celebrate the jubilee in a narrow circle.
This is not the first informal visit of Putin to Schroeder. He was a personal guest of the Chancellor in his Hannover apartment in December 2001. Putin said that the Chancellor’s family had a modest but very cozy apartment.
The Putin and Schroeder families are friends, who mark holidays together. Schroeder said after a Hannover meeting with Putin that they liked spending time together. The Schroeder family was personal guests of Putin in his Novo-Ogaryovo residence.
In January 2001 the Putins and the Schroeders celebrated Orthodox Christmas in Moscow and a birthday of the Russian president’s wife.
