Two Marines admit torturing Iraqi
A pair of 19-year-old U.S. Marines plead guilty to administering electric shocks to an Iraqi prisoner in early April, months after the abuse scandal at Abu Ghraib prison was brought to light.
The prisoner was held at the Al Mahmudiya prison. In a statement, the Marines said the man was throwing trash and speaking loudly. They said they attached him to a 110-volt power converter as punishment. They plead guilty to multiple charges.
One will get a year in prison, reduction of rank, forfeiture of pay and a bad-conduct discharge; the other gets the same punishment except his prison stay will be eight months.
Two other Marines were implicated and await court action.
