The Israeli ministry of foreign affairs opened an investigation regarding serious suspicions regarding some “moral violations” in the Israeli Liaison Office in Rabat. The suspicions are linked to allegations of sexual harassment and the exploitation of women.
Israeli media revealed that this is related to harassment claims and allegations in addition to sharp conflicts between officials in the Israeli Liaison Office in Rabat.
Israeli B channel declared that the investigation revolves around the behavior of current the head of mission in Morocco, David Govrin, who is the previous Israeli ambassador in Egypt from 2016 to 2020.
Israel appointed David Govrin to be the country’s representative in Morocco, back in October 2021.
“Because of the suspicions being investigated, a delegation of a number of senior officials, including the inspector general of the office, Hagai Behar, arrived at the office in a hurry last week,” said B channel.
Other Israeli media also confirm that the investigation is being held to look into these allegations of the exploitation of women by a senior representative of the Liaison office, in addition to other violations.
The Israeli ministry of foreign affairs is searching for a precious gift that came from the royal palace during the Independence Day celebrations of the State of Israel.
This gift, according to suspicions, either disappeared or was stolen and was not reported as requested, according to the complaints received by the Ministry.
The ministry is also investigating a conflict within the embassy between the head of the mission, David Govrin, and the security officer responsible for the security and proper operation of the Israeli mission.
The involvement of a businessman named Sami Cohen in hosting official events for senior Israeli officials is also being looked into by the Israeli ministry. Cohen has met with ministers such as Gideon Sa’ar, Ayelet Shaked, Yair Lapid, Meir Cohen, and other senior officials.
Allegedly, Cohen met with official representatives, during his meetings with senior Israeli officials, even though he does not hold any official position.
The businessman, an alleged friend of David Govrin, was always present during the visits of Israeli officials.
What seems to bother the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials the most, are the serious allegations about the exploitation and harassment of local women by an Israeli official.
If these allegations are proven true, it could lead to a serious diplomatic incident in the delicate relations between Israel and Morocco.
